How do you clear your telephone line?

I got a call 10 mins ago from some cold calling sales thingy. They haven't terminated the call so I have no ring tone. How do I boot them off?

you cant as they hold the line open although i think after so many miniuits of inactivity it will cut out automaticly
i belive if you pick the phone up it restarts the timing
we are all ------------------still learning
