Garden Building Supply Question

I would like to know If I can run a supply to my garden Office from the Consumer unit in our garage? I plan to submit a detailed plan of work as part of P-Regs to our local ath.

My office is 50 meters down the garden from the house, but only 25 meters from the Garage.

The garage has a 3-way CU with a Spare MCB slot. Can I run a SWA cable from this slot? in the office I intend to fit a 2-way CU with RCD protection for 6A Lights and 20A Ring Circuit for sockets.

Is this legal or do I need to make the connection (Using Sparks) in the main CU from the House?

Would be greatful for any advice

It is perfectly feasilble to do this, but a lot depends on the size of the cable feeding your garage fuseboard. Provided it is big enough to cope with the extra loading then not a problem.

Thanks for that I know the SWA cable supplying the garage is 6mm and the consumer unit is rated at 63 amps max. the studio consumer has a max rating of 40amps.

What is the supply to your garage rated at by this i mean what size is the fuse feeding this board and how far from your main fuseboard is it. Also what is in your garage running off of this fuse board.

the fuse supplying the garage in the house is only 20amp and the length of cable is 10 meters. Is this bad news?

No not at all, you can quite easily uprate that fuse/MCB to a 32A or a 40A if you are sure it is definiteley a 6mm cable and then you can do as you proposed before and run off of the spare way in your existing garage fuseboard.
