Tile behind a shower unit?

Hi,

Just a quick question, Im installing a power shower and was wondering do you tile around the shower unit or tile underneath it?

always tile the wall then fit the shower to the wall. :thumbright:

a recess shower valve is fitted first though then tiled then the face plate fitted
