Tiling Advice please

Post by diynoob »

i'm getting a new bathroom suite installed including floor and wall tiles.

I have old floor boards, the builder is laying square boards on the floorboards, but he hasn't laid it under the bath tub.

i'm worried about leaks, my question is should I get the whole floor tiled before the bath suite is installed.

and also what's the best way to waterproof the floor, i don't want it leaking in to my kitchen!!

thanks all.

Hi and welcome,

Normally you just tile up to the bath and not underneath it.

There should not be any leaks as long as the bath is sealed correctly.

If you get leaks into the kitchen, the bathroom has not been installed correctly.

Will it be a free standing bath or boxed in with a side/end panel.

Just make sure he fixes the bath to the walls, and fills it with water when he silicons the edges.
