Floating Floor Tiling

Post by Mr Grinch »

Hi all,

Can anyone advise me on the best procedure to tile on a floating floor. From memory the extension has a concete base, painted with a black tar water proof membrane, then insulation on top, i think those square polystyrine foam sheets, then boarded on top on that. There is a bit of movement when walking on the floor (bit of give here and there).

Can anyone advice how i can tile on top of this.
Regards

I think you'll struggle to be honest.

What type of tiles were you thinking of fitting?

The tiles down are porcelain i think, but i places are cracking and the group coming out where i think the tiles were laid straight onto the boards.

Any recomendations ?

floating floors have to be the worst base to tile onto.

Unless you can remove floor and screed..........then forget it and lay carpet
