Priming for tiling

Had to whack a load of bonding onto an old bathroom wall to level it up.

Clients are going to be tiling. the area - deep joy, I wish they'd leave these jobs to someone who has at least a basic idea of what they're doing, if its anything like their previous attempts I'll be in there next week to rip them all off and start again - Sorry, wee rant I'm sure you've all been there though!

What, if anything should the bonding be sealed with prior to tiling?

It's not advisable to tile directly onto bonding, it should be skimmed first.

You can of course get them to check with the tile adhesive manufacturers though as they might say different. The adhesive manufacturers will also specify what sealer to use

Thanks UHM,

I'll whack a quick skim on it tomorrow and leave them with strict instructions to read the label on their chosen adhesive -probably a cheap nasty from B&Q judging by their past efforts! At least I'll be covered then.
