hows it going eveyone?

well, after living in my flat for 16 years..and the builders performing their own version of riverdance all over my carpets, i think its time for lamanate flooring (in my bedroom anyways), i hva absolutely no clue about this, so just wondering, how hard is it to do? i mean i have a bed in my room wish is going to be mighty impossible to get out of the oom while its being done...and also, im guessing that the carpet will need to be ripped out so that the boards can be laid down...if this was the case lets just say that whatever is under my "council laid" carpet is not flat, what would i have to do? i have a rectangular shaped room... which is abou 75/ 100 square foot in size...
sorry if ive repsoted/ ask a really stupid question but if any one could point me in the right directioon i would be very greatfull! thank you in advance!

heeellloo mr.omega and welcome

it is possible to work in a room with a bed in but difficult
providing the bed takes up less than half the room width it can be achived
if you are asking people to quote for the work make shure you tell them the bed will have to stay and expect to pay an extra £50 dependant on size of bed

if youy want to lay the floor your self that depends on your skills and tools

Laying laminate is relatively easy, but like Big-all says it is much harder with a bed in the room, but it should still be possible.

thanks for the welcome big all! im almost 21 and i have never done any form of diy what so ever...so i kinda wanna get my hands dirty and start right at the deep end, so i dont think ill hire any one to do it...but ill look it up and see what they charge usually...thanks ultimatehandyman for the link...very useful and very carefully laid out :headbang:

I recently asked when I purchased some laminate and the guy in the shop said from £9 per square meter for fitting, depending on how much additional work is involved such as moving furniture. That price was in Blackburn Lancs and so it will vary depending on where you live!

lol, i was actually on the phone all this time trying to get in contact with people seeing how much they would charge and it wasnt very successfull! 9 pounds per sqaure metre? and im guessing that i would be supplying m own lamanate? id rather spend the money on something else like car stuff or biscuits! and since im in central london, probably add another 6 pounds to that....
one thing i think ill have trouble with is the door way....seems a bit difficult!

doorways are easy

you can get away with a jigsaw /combination square/fret or hand jigsaw /hand saw/mitre saw [for new skirting or beading]hammer /instilation kit
