New extension planned

Hi, I'm an engineer from south Wales and am used to all sorts of DIY, although building regs are new to me.
I have submitted plans via a qualified bulding designer for a new single storey extension to my kitchen for which I will be doing most of the work myself including vaulted ceiling, 3 velux windows and lots of glass. Therefore this site has been found at the right time. No doubt I will have many questions as things move along :?: I'll also post some pictures as I progress.
I knocked 2 cottages into one some time back and worked on building a kitchen/bath extension about 25yrs ago so know roughly what to do :thumbright: .
I've read the messages on Part P, very interesting. Is the bottom line that I can do it myself providing I tell the local planning authority, do the work within electrical standards obviously, and then they will inspect it at their cost as part of my planning fee? :? I have installed garage power/lights/spurs etc and have had some shocks so know when and what my limits are.

Welcome Corky :thumbright:.

Sounds like a big project your planning - good luck with it. We like to see pictures of peoples successes on here, and things that didn't go according to plan

Hi and welcome to the DIY and much more forum

As I understand it Part P means the electrical needs to be signed off by a qualified electrician. the Building Control inspector woyuldnt know what all the regulations are. You may get someone local to you on here to give you the cert you need after it is tested and checked.
