socket radial circuits

Hi

In the latest edition of the On site guide on page 61 it shows a diagram of a radial circuit with duplicate protective conductors.

Does this mean that from the final socket you have to run an additional earth wire back to the consumer unit?

If so do they manufacture twin core and twin earth wire?

thanks

Hi,

Good question, Hopefully one of the sparks will answer this. It looks as though you do have to run a seperate earth wire back to the consumer unit. Not sure how long this rule has applied.

Many sockets I have seen whether on a ring circuit or radial also do not have a cpc on each side of the socket despite there being two seperate holes for the earthing wire, most of the ones I have seen have the two earthing wires in one of the earthing terminals, now you have to put one in each terminal. I don't know why exactly, nor do I know why you have to put the earth wires in different positions on the earthing terminal inside the consumer unit. I am pretty sure most people would put both earthing wires from a ring circuit in the same postiion on the earthing terminal, if they did not know about this.

its called a "clean earth system"

no good unless your wiring a computer suite....
