ARMOURED CABLE

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING MY OWN GARAGE, I HAVE NO ELECTRICAL EXPERIANCE AND I NOW NEED TO LAY AN ARMOURED CABLE FROM THE HOUSE FUSE BOARD TO THE GARAGE. WHAT THICKNESS OF CABLE MUST I USE TO RUN A LIGHTING CIRCUIT, SOME SOCKETS WHICH WILL INCLUDE AN ELECTRIC ROLLER SHUTTER DOOR?

How far is the garage from the CU?
Consider that future house owners may want to make the garage into a workshop, going with a bigger CSA cable now could save them or even yourself heartache in the future.
I tend to go OTT with things just max out, and feed another CU in the garage, future proof

The Garage is twenty metres from the house and i'm going to have to run approximately thirty five metres of cable so that things are kept nice and tidy.(i.e no big black cables trailing around the house.)

What load are you planning for the garage?
You'll need to fit a seconadry CU in teh gargage with breakers, sized correctly.
Sure one of the sparks will gve you some specs soon.

I am intending to put four double sockets, and one single which will run the garage door. I won't be using too many large power tools so there shouldn't be too much load on the system.when in comes to lighting I'm going to just have three flouresent lights for now.

I would run a 6mm or a 10mm swa to your garage and then terminate it into an rcd protected fuseboard at the garage end, and at the house end, fuse the cable at 32-40A depending on cable size used.
