I have an ipod with about 6GB of music on it, and want to put this content on my nice new 3GS iphone.
Anyone ever done this before, and can you recommend how to do it.

This appears as if it may do the job, but hopefully someone has done this before, and knows what works well

Why not just IPod -> PC-> Phone
bit long but I just plug in both my IPod and Phone into the PC USB ports.

Craig,
Sorry I cannot help on that as I don't have either an iPod nor a 3G phone.
I would ncheck whether they both play the same format of music or whether you are better transfering to your computer and then maybe, change the format for the phone.

is it that easy, didnt even think of doing this, as I thought you couldnt just do that due to copyright issues.

The only way to get the music onto the ipod is vis the computer it is synced to. So the music you want to transfer is on the pc already I would think?
And if it isn't, I think when you connect the ipod to the pc, this music will get wiped!
So .... all you should need to do is sync the iPhone and select the music you want from the itunes playlists.
Good luck

They do make some sort of software that you can also do this with.
I to would of thought of just plugging in the iphone and transfere the music to the phone. You might want to make sure how much memory your phone has for this. If you got 3g worth of music on the ipod you will need 3g's on the phone as well for the first time and than you can make and change your music list to your iphone

you will call me an idiot (as usual), but i couldnt work it out. When you open the ipod icon in my computer, i cant get the music file to appear. Then tried itunes, and I couldnt copy the files in there either. Pissed about for an hour, i gave up and spent £15 on that software link above
Anyway, worked a treat, and now the ipod, iphone and itouch are all synced the same

next question, that same software company has a video rip programme. Have tried the trial, and it ripped 2 minutes as an example.
Its superb, but costs £20, any free options? File size/screen size made exactly for the iphone screen, and quality spot on.
Only thing i found was the iphone doesnt appear to show anything other than bought itunes videos in the video folder. I had to move it to the postcast folder, then it worked fine
