Bathroom Fan and Light Wiring
I'm fitting 4 x Zone 3 Downlighters and a timed shower extractor (with light) in my bathroom. The downlighters will be wired with a dimmer switch, which is easy enough and would like to fit a seperate switch for the extractor on the outside of the room, next to the dimmer and not inside via a pull cord switch. Can anyone advise on how and what type of swicth i could use and the wiring. Thanks

You will need a three pole switch like this-
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro ... 7&ts=51920
you need a permanent live and switched live for the fan, which must pass through the 3 pole switch.
It should be obvious how to wire this up once you buy the bits as they have instructions with them, if no post back
if you are fitting the dimmer and 3 pole switch next to each other you will need one of these-

Basically as said before your fan needs to have a live, switched live and neutral. It needs to be isolated via a 3 pole switch which will break all of the three connections for maintenance.so you can use this to turn it on and off, or have another switch after the three pole one to turn the light and fan on and off which can be a normal light switch placed into the switched live to the lightand fan.We would normally install a 3 pole switch next to the fan if its a loft mounted unit, or above the door in the hall outside the bathroom if a ceiling type, and then just wire the switched live through another gang of a normal lightswitch , so in your case you could have a dimmer for the main lights and then a normal 1 gang switch adjacent to this for the fan and light.

If it isnt broke dont bloody touch it until it bloody well is and if it is broke then make drawing of the connections before you remove the broken one and replace with a new one LoL
