a major problem? advice appreciated
Hi,
thanks for reading this message.
I am hoping to buy a house (nervous ftb). I dont know how much of a problem a big water stain is on the front of the property. It seems to have arisen from an overflow which I have been told has now been fixed. The following is a link to the property ....
http://www.morrisarmitage.co.uk/propert ... hp?id=1221
However, the ugly stain remains. I have a few questions. Is it just cosmetic or potentially gone inside the walls (as in could it appear internally?). ....can it be removed...and if so who would be the best tradesman to approach ie a general builder or a specialist?....finally is it an expensive job to undertake.
Thanks for any advice, much appreciated.

Hi me again...
no I'm not a can of spam!!
Razor, thank you so much for the reply, much appreciated.
Looks wise it aint the prettiest house you have ever seen. However, its ex military housing and the rooms inside are huge. Most of the entire usaf estate came onto the market early this year (studlands park, newmarket) with the result that prices have been very competative, and this is the last one up for sale.
At my grand old age of 46 I would rather go for something with decent living space (as long as its not got any structural probs because of the damp patch) than one of those pretty looking new builds that have cardboard walls, and rooms so small the showhouse has scaled down furniture! The less than attractive facade didnt put off investors snapping up half a dozen properties a pop. Its not my dream home, but I'm a single parent and its more than what I ever thought I could buy, so fine if other people think its crap...but this is going to be our family home.
btw for those less than supportive replies, yes I am genuine. I will probably be posting on here asking for help many more times due to my lack on knowledge/skills re bigger diy jobs.

assuming you will need a mortgage, the mortgage company will require a survey, if the stain is a problem, they'll soon let you know.
Good luck with your purchase
