BAL bond SBR is this the correct primer ?

As the topic says guys i have been sold the above (from Tops tiles) as a primer prior to tiling a bathroom & kitchen that i have overskimmed with Thistle Board Finish.
As far as i can tell (reading the use for information on the back) this product looks to me like a posh PVA that you dilute down to add to a mix of cement or plaster or use as a slurry mix prior to plastering. I am confused .
If this is the case i could have easily just used the Wicks plaster bonding agent i have on site anyway and saved myself £13 :cb.

So what i need to know please if any of you guys can help is.
What bond will i need to tile onto new plaster SBR or APD ?.
Can i tile straight on to the new plaster without a bond ?.

Will be using Bal trade adhesive for the tiles.

Cheers
Gordon

Well they were very helpful for me!
Interesting stuff, thanks.

Just used the Bal primer on an old dusty wall prior to tiling, sealed it up beautifully - much better than expected. And it smelt kind of minty which was nice!

That Bal SBR is brilliant. I primed ply before I tiled, tiled with S1 mapei adhesive. Had to remove one tile months later, ripped the ply

When you prime the ply its like walking on celotape the next day

Lads, do tilers normally prime a ply floor before tiling?

i would just prime the underside and edges of the ply..stops moisture ingress from underneath leaving 2/3mm gap at all walls this helps with any exspansion in ply.

i mainly use bal addy
but other manufacturers will say to prime the face of ply.

as u say its the dogs dangles

am i stearing away from ply these days in favour of backerboaords for floors...6mm..easier to cut,"stanley" does the job :-)
