Sorting out a crack between door frame and wall inside.

Hi, I have a crack between the wall and the front door frame inside the house all the way around. The crack is approx 3mm around but in someplaces a little wider. Its looks as though the door frame has shrunk or moved around 2mm away from the wall due to weather/settlement. I posted earlier about filling cracks but i am a little more worried about this one. Just wondered what is the best item to use for this.
It looks something like this picture I have found but a couple of mm wider all the way around.

I am hoping I am worrying about nothing, but really would like to get something that i can sort it and can decorate on top of and get a great finish. Thanks again and sorry for all the really basic questions.

I would carefully fill it as deep as you can with bonding plaster. Then polyfilla and paint, then finally a silicone colour matched to the paint as close as possible.

The bonding is stronger than filler and the filler over the top is just to smooth. The paint will provide a base for the silicone and should always be done after.

You could use Caulk and most people would to save time but there is no substitute for doing it properly.

i would make shure the door frame is solid then i would scrape out 5mm then fill with painters mate or simmilar flexable to stop the cracks in future
