want to get a blu-ray player, and cant see any negative reason why not to spend £250 on a 120gb slim ps3 with remote

Things I want is upscaling and profile 2.0, which it appears to have.

Its in the same price range of most players at the moment, and is a game machine as well............any downsides? any better players for the money out there?

Cheers

In a word, No. Not got one myself but by far one of the best players and a bonus as it's a games machine too.

Actually it's a decent media centre too. TVersity or whatever it's called is all good.

its when you read this type of thing all the time
http://stuff.tv/Reviews/TV-hi-fi-Review ... s-Reviews/

top 10 from stuff, and the ps3 is number 2, and all the well rated machines cost more than £200..........When reading reviews in general, it appears a waste of £80 getting one of the cheaper ones??

FFS - Stuff is a lads mag what do they know about technology :boxing:

Its similar to TS (with less t1ts). These mags are too generic, you need a specialist mag.

When PS2 came out it came with a downgraded DVD player so they wouldn't distract from the their other range.....do you really think Sony would ship a games console with a top notch BR to knock their own products. Look at the top 9, 4 are Sony yet one of the cheapest is a games console

For almost a quarter of the price you can have a LG that probably has a comparable BR

Exactly, cant believe it myself (hence asking if i'm missing something), but almost every site has the ps3 in the top ten, and in almost every site its the cheapest of the top ten.

Its also one of the few units thats 'future proof' a bit more, as they can download new software to the system. Example of this was the 'profile 2' system, which the old ps3 didnt have, but they upgraded the software and now it works this sytem.........for free.

It mentions the PS3 being out for nearly a year.
The review was written in 2007

There are other top ten lists which have reviewed the new slim version. The review in stuff mag 2 months ago was the new slim ps3, but the website still has the old one reviewed (but a new slim ps3 is the picture  )
