Wrong Tile Sealer

Post by Stretch »

I've sealed my new slate tiles with a very thin single coat of plastplug tile sealer which I don't like as it doesn’t give the desired finish and doesn’t appear to seal the tiles particularly well.

I'm planning to reseal with Lithofin Stainstop or similar but I'm concerned about it reacting badly with the stuff I've already applied. Any advice appreciated.

I didn't get a reply via their email service yet, but I've decided to go ahead order anyway. I guess the only way I'm going to know for sure is give it a try. Fingers crossed, I'll let you know the results.

Quick update. I've applied the lithofin tile sealer after giving the tiles a thorough wash with a general purpose tile cleaning product. It's looks great. Really glad I took the time to use the second sealer, it's ten times better than the plastplug rubbish.
