Bought one of these today, a bit of an impulse buy really because I knew I needed a new belt sander. Went for the 75mm version and now having doubts that I should have stuck out for the 100mm width. Price at BQ was sub £130 so thought it was fairly good money wise. Before I fire it up, anyone got an opinion? Good or bad.
Thanks
Mike

Fitting a couple of FL&B doors today with rebated bottoms and thought I would fire up the new Hitachi belt sander. 30 seconds into cleaning up my saw cuts (putting a chamfer back on sides) and phut, spark cough-cough-wheeze oh 5hite, spark all over the place and the thing died in my hands. Took teh handle apart back in the workshop (out of curiosity and my goodness what a cheapy way to build it) all burnt to a cinder. Best guess analysis is when they put it together at the factory they crimped a couple of wires.
Results were good though (same as any other I suppose) in teh short time I used it. No dust though it all went in the collection bag which I thought was impressive.
Back to BeeQ tomoz for a refund and buy another make from Axminster.

That is not what I would expect from Hitachi.
I guess you just never know these days, you could be unlucky and get one that was made on a Friday afternoon, or they could be poor quality imports.

Half of the stuff in the B&Qs is the cheaper end of the ranges, many people dont realise that.
Not sure on the belt sanders, not never used one of theirs.
