Fitting plinths

Fitting some floor cupboards and saw a line drawn underneath that the legs sit too. Is this normally a standard measurement?

My kitchen has a run of 2 units on one side. This was a last minute decision, so skirting had already been fitted, do i cut out plinth to make it fit?

Because this is a little island against a wall, do i do 2 short pieces at the sides and a longer piece across the front so that it overlaps the sides? Or vice versa? If so how do i get away with different colour ends? Or would i mitre them like an external corner for skirting?

just scribe the plynth round the skirting,

for the island front on first, the full width of the units then the sides will go from the wall/skirting to the back of the front piece. then iron on veneer the chipboard ends.

Looks pretty good match and it will take the harshness off the mdf colour. We are in negotiation as i write.
