Hi, I have just registered after finding this site for all my DIY needs.
My husband is renovating the bathroom and on one wall there is a mirror inlaid into tiles, can the mirror be tiled over or will it have to come off
Cheers

I take it you're tiling on top of the existing tiles?

What preparation is being done to key (give the adhesive something to stick to) the new adhesive to the old tiles?

Alot safer removing it, the existing adhesive could be clinging on by the skin of its teeth to the mirrors silver backing. The added weight of tiles on top could take it off the wall, if you are tiling over tile, just thicken up on the adhesive where the mirror used to be.

Some tilers will be along shortly. :thumbright:

I removed a great big mirror today, I couldn't believe it when it just popped off with my claw hammer at the edges, there were about ten small blobs of gripfill on it.

Tling over tiles is a bodge, tiling over a mirror is even worse in my opinion.

ok look at it this way its going to work 50/50 dependent on how secure the mirror is

if your a gambler theres a bet in this

and the game is who will be in the room when it falls of the wall and can they avoid being hit!!!!!! :cb :cb :cb

If you really have to tile over tile...........then at least rip the mirro out and skim over the space left :thumbright: Also beware tiling on tile as there only as securely fixed as the old tiles. :thumbright:
