intergrated oven/grill

Post by PETER R »

hi guys hope you all had a nice christmas , fitted my kitchen a few months back , but cant get used to the oven/grill ok the oven works well , but then if i want to use the grill i fill the room with smoke from whatever i was cooking in the oven , as it has deposited skets of oil onto the grill elements , any advice please , or is it just a stupid design fault

Hi sounds like theres more wrong with your cooking than your oven  when you roast meat in the oven it spits fat on to the grill elements so when you use the grill it burns off and fills the kitchen with smoke.
Simple answer cover the meat with foil when roasting.

the rule of thumb is that if the grill comes with a handle attached ..you grill with the door open /if the handle detachs ..you grill with door shut , BnQ have an oven for example /the air circulates between bvoth oven and grill and you grill with door shut ??

ok on the instructions it says to grill with the door open , and as for covering all my cooking with foil thats not going to help either as i like my food golden brown not pale and tasteless , so looks like its a silly design as im not going to clean the grill elements every time i use the oven.
looked into getting a worktop grill that should solve the problem

If you clean the oven this wont happen, simple really. The only thing that can smoke is crap from when you last cooked.

exactly who cleans their oven after each time of use , and in the instructions it says to be carefull cleaning the grill elements , so to do that after each oven use would probably bugger them up

As I said in the first post its just fat on the elements you could swap it for twin oven if you have the space useing one for grilling,
But to be true most single ovens are made this way no design fault' more to do with compact design in our space saving lifestyle.

What would help if you place one of the shelves to the uppermost level of the oven and place a baking tray on it this should shield the grill elements from the fat when useing the oven.
Hopes this helps

An alternative to cleaning may be to run the oven for an extra hour after you have finished cooking to burn off any residue.
To be honest i cant say this is a common problem and i love cooking. The house we have moved into has an old kitchen and oven and that has never had this problem either.Perhaps you could cover the grill by placing a shelf up high and sliding a pizza tray on top to prevent the splashes onto the grill element ?
Even covering it in foil before using the oven would work if cleaning isnt your thing.
