Lighting Circuit

The lighting circuit in our house is not earthed. If I connect an earth wire from a power point to a light switch will this earth the light involved?

Hi Malvern,

Yes it would earth it and would probably make it safe. It isn't the most ideal way to earth a light. Either renew the mains cable incorporating an earth wire or run a seperate earth cable to it would be much better.

However taking it from the ring circuit is better than nothing!
