Hi
Can anytone tell me what to use to seal bare plaster before tiling?
There are two areas to cover: a splash-back behind a basin and a shower area.
I have heard/read about products you can buy to apply to the area in the shower before tiling to waterproof it.
Can anyone tell me which product to buy, how much I should be paying for it etc.?
thanks

Re: sealing plaster before tiling
I used BAL APD. Worked a treat as I had to take some tiles off and it was stuck hard!stofts wrote:Hi

The BAL WP1 kit has eveything you need. Its easy to use and works well. There is also a dunlop version on sale in screwfix, Its cheaper I believe but not sure if as good, dunnostofts wrote: I have heard/read about products you can buy to apply to the area in the shower before tiling to waterproof it.

You can buy both BAL products from Topps tiles or order them from the web, e.g. Bal kit is about £50 online. Topps charge £75 but they are ridiculous price for everything!
Oh, if using the waterproof kit in a shower its a good idea to use a before tile sealing strip, such as trimlux, or homelux. Available in B&Q
