underseal

Thinking ahead, I thought I might underseal the wheel arches on my 4 year old van (hoping its still being used by me in 4 years time).

I presume I just pressure wash the arches, let them dry, and paint the stuff on? Is it ok to use it, are there any downsides?

Just thought it might be worthwhile.........

Are they not done anyway? or have arch liners...?
Give it a good scrape and brush off, make sure its dry a put it on, and theres no rust already. It wont do any harm. Untill they need welding anyway ;)
Keep it away from brake lines etc, so they can be inspected properly.

My shitroen was already factory undersealed and had partial plastic liners, but still needed welded at 8 years old :cb 4 times :cb :cb

Just thought an extra layer of protection for £15 and a few hours work might be worthwhile?

Mine is 10 years old, no rust except around the battery tray. And it spent a few years at the sea side.

For the brake lines, i think a good smearing of grease or waxoil is usually the order of the day....easily wipes off when they need to be checked, rather than a good scrape like underseal.
