Kitchen Hinge Measurments

Post by andysubaru3089 »

Hi Guys,
To start with, I am a newcomer to this forum and hope to use this forum alot in the future.
I dont if this has been asked already but when marking out to fit a kitchen hinge, how do i figure out where to drill my hole. Do i have to set the hinge to its max settings or min settings. Is there any websites that would show me.

Hope you guys can help

Cheers
Andy

Do you mean marking it out to fit on cabinet or to fit onto the door?

That link is for Blum. They are standard measurement for them, other makes can vary though.

Very handy link though, cos I like Blum hinges, aswell as hafele. I never remember the measurements so always work it out on test peice. Now I know where to go to save the working out.

You will need to do a test peice first as your make of hinge could vary.

For centre of hole on door, measure in 23mm.

For centre of crucifix to be fitted onto frame, measure in 37mm from edge of carcass.

You must do test peice though as there are different sizes of kitchen hinges.

How thick is the door? This will affect the hinge mortice centre to allow the door to clear the carcase face.

There are lots of variables so the best way is to experiment on test pieces. If you fix the mounting plate end to a piece and then offer the door up you will get an idea of where it is. Some hinges allow you to make a mark through the centre point of the door mount.

That is based on Blum but you have other makes also. You also have different diameter cups (the part of the hinge which fits into hole in door).
