Hello all,

I've drawn up a little sketch of what I want to achieve with the garden. I think it's all do-able but thought I'd drop a pic on here to see if anyone can foresee any issues I'm likely to encounter or evisage any better options for our space. I plan on doing all the work outside myself including building the arbour...the brick square to the bottom right is a raised bed for plants and flowers. The garden is surrounded by walls on all sides, some only shoulder height. The wall shown with gaps in is the wall from our house and the gaps are doors and windows. Hope it make sense.

I'm still trying to get some pics on here but lost the charger to my damn camera!!!

Cheers,

Tom

If this is your complete garden, why not put the arbour along where the path goes as you will not have a part with good sunlight. Should you wish to relax or sunbathe you will have arbour stripes.

What direction are the doors/windows facing? as it may help with suggestions.

Like laqi said. If this is your complete garden, you will need to add some greenery. All depending on where the sun is during the day you will need to put in some plants or it will look like a concrete jungle.

Is there any room for turf.???

Hi guys,

Thanks for getting back to me. This is the complete garden, and is currently completely concrete. The image is shown looking at the garden from a southerly (slightly west) position so the long bit of the garden points south. There are, however, tall houses either side of the garden (west and east) and houses opposite (south) with their garden and a path way in between. I get sunlight in the back for around 3-4 hours (about 12-4) before we get dunked back into shade. I'm out at work most of the day so will mostly be using the garden in the evenings but I suppose some sunlight would be nice.

I had put the arbour there because our french doors from the bedroom open out onto the larger area in the garden and I thought I could put a temporary "pull-out" cover over the arbour when it is raining so we can still have the doors open for some fresh air...

As for turf, I don't think there is room unless anyone could suggest any clever ways of doig this...

The raised bit shown in the bottom corner of the "L" is for a flower/planting bed and I was thinking of putting some planters along the length of the L and maybe some potted plants under the arbour...

Hello,

Thought some pics of the garden may spur some ideas....all suggestions are very welcome...

Although this cannot be seen there are french doors on the wall facing the left side of the shed.

Cheers,
