help with a concrete slab / tiled fireplace heath

looking to make an approx 54" x 15" fireplace hearth out of a concrete slab with tiles on top- just need some help working out measurements.
the fireplace will be 9 x 150mm tiles in length, and 2 inches high, so will cut the 2 inch tiles for round the sides and front.
so obviously the length of the concrete slab will need to be length of the 9 tiles + grout spacing, less the depth of the tile and adhesive for the 2inch tiles on each side of the slab.
i know the tiles are 9mm in depth, but how much should i allow in calculations for the tile advesive for the side tiles??
thanks, and hope this makes sense... hard to explain in words!
