Bedroom restoration finished
Though I'd post up a few picys of a room in my girlfriends house that was finally completed on Wednesday.
Just to fill you in, I live 95 miles away from my girl friend so I've only been able to work on the room when I'm visiting which has been incredibly frustrating. I started this ' little ' project on 28th December 2009, having minimal experience of building / plastering ect.
The job involved moving a wall & door outwards thus extending the bedroom slightly, removing old plaster from 3 of the walls back to brick & plastering with backing plaster ( browning ) to bring walls level + partly stripping old plaster from a external wall, plastering ceiling & all walls, moving light switch to new wall position, adding a extra plug socket, removing old skirting board & replace. Fix coving to ceiling & decorate.
The room is only about 6' x 7'. The thing that amazed me was how long it took to complete, to this day I cant tell you accurately long I've spent on it but I'd guess about 4 weeks maybe more. I vastly underestimated how long it would take to complete, I remember before I started thinking I've have it all done in about a week and a half , allthough I did spend quite a bit of time dithering, asking questions on here, umming and aaring ect.
My and my other half are very pleased with the end result, so it's all been worthwhile, I'd like to thank CWPLASTERING , TROWEL MONKEY, ROYALOAKCARPENTRY and anyone else who has given me advise on this project, it is greatly appreciated.
I should have taken a few photos before I started, here's one in the early stages.
Some of the bricks had to be re cemented back in + lots of re pointing that my girlfriend done.
Some of the bricks came away when the skirting board was removed

The paint wasnt fully dry when I took these photos hence the dark areas in some of the photos.

Very nice job there, Dazz. Something to be proud of.

Did you charge her travelling time?

You can always tell a Yorkshireman,
But you cannot tell him much.
