Hi, can anyone explain how to mitre 6" skirting board round my bay window?

For internal angles you are best of scribing, rather than mitering. How to do this is described here-

hi paddy. bay windows are normally set at 45 degrees or not far off.
the easiest way is to put the back piece on first with 22.5 degree internal cuts on either end. then do each side. when you have a good joint then mark it to lenght and cut an external 22.5 degree cut to meet the normal wall piece, also done at 22.5.
if the corners of the wall are slightly curved and it is hard to get your point then drawer a line on the floor. put a dummy piece on the normal wall and drawer a line as well. where the 2 points meet is your external point of the 45 degree mitre.
