Re: pvc stable door
Thats a step too far, can't bear to look as it is horrendous. Some things in life should only be available in timber lol.
Thats not to take anything away from the fitting of it. Just the door offends me.

diyguys
its simple to fit only takes a few hours
remove old door
cut\scrape the old silicone away
place the new door in the opening
use plastic packers to wedge in place, (i needed 4mm packer on each side)
start fixing the hinge side, needs a fix and packer at each hinge, 4no
line thru the clapping side and fix
fit the panel, and the glass, top n toe with packers to hold it all tight
remove the protective film and clean down
mask up and silicone
the door was made by our local window firm, dont know cost thats all done by the gaffer

Re: pvc stable door
Looks good, never seen a upvc one before.
I tend to use these new screws where you just drill a pilot and screw in to it, no plugs or frame fixings as they used to be called.
Reminds me of an old horse we used to have who thought he was a blacksmith...
Every time he saw an open door he made a bolt for it.
OK OK I'll get me coat.

Re: pvc stable door
I have to agree with Royal on both counts, that stable door looks bloody awful from an aesthetics point of view that is. But I too think the UPVC sashes work quite well in the appropriate situation.royaloakcarpentry wrote:Funnily enough, I happen to think plastic sashes look ok. A lot of doors look ok. Re: pvc stable door
Ive seen a couple of them quite awhile ago but never seen one fitted & it still looks horrible. Nice job fitting it though i'll bet it was hard not to slap the owner & shout why why why would you want this get a proper one!
