Hello everyone, my 4yr old has thrown a hanger against TV (SHARP, Aquos), flat screen and no pictures are visible at the moment.

Is it possible for me to just replace the screen? Thanx

Its not worth the hassle to repair tbh, 2-3 hours to strip and rebuild plus sourcing a panel, your get a half decent 32-37" for under £300 now with all the up to date tech upgrades you see loads of difference between a 2 year old tv and a new one in terms of the picture quailty and contrast

I used to be in tv and video repairs for many years its all throw away now its not viable to repair esp with all the surface mount and muilt layered pcb's

If all else falls you can always put in a claim on your insurance

Many thanks flash. My missus wants us to claim on contents insurance but I'm worried about loosing 6yrs no claims Renewal is due in 11 days, so will renew b4 making the claim.

dont leave it claim now if you claim after renewal and the premiums would have been higher and they get suspicious and find out they can refuse your claim as fraud because you are trying to withold monry from them

in the grand sceme off things you wont save any money as it will just happen next year so do it by the book and have a clear concience

You'd be very lucky to (a) find a replacement scren (b) get one costing less than £300 anyway (c) fitting it succesfully without breaking it!

Well, kellys, that's my 6yrs no claims gone then & a £150 excess payable on claims as well. His daily pocket money of 20p will be duct for couple of weeks. That should teach him.

how much extra will the no claims payment be
all i am thinking if its say £10 per year for every no claim year as in £60 the first £50 second £40 third £30 fourth £20 fifth and £10 the sixth year for example thats £210 +£150excess so £360 and if you dont get new for old it may be worth not claiming

if you do decide not to claim on the insurance...Sony are running a "trade in promo" at the mo.( some retailers) and willgive between £50 and £150 off for a trade in...working or not..for example (Depending on your budget)..
