Got this machine just over 1 year ago, and when in use its superb. So much better cleaning than the karcher 115 bar one i had. The 15m hose is very handy and a big plus point.

Minus points...... It broke 3 months ago (nasty metal grinding noise, then stopped), and had to be fixed under warranty. No problems really, but had to take it to service center, which was a 30min drive away.

Has now broke again. Pissed oil everywhere, pressure gauge not working, motor not 'kicking in' (have to turn fan so it starts working), and one of the transport wheels cracked. All four new issues happened separately from each other over 1 month.


Its a great machine if it was reliable and had cast metal wheels (heavy machine, so its just stupid to have plastic ones) What can i say, I'm not happy Its meant to be an industrial rated machine

i think i may ebay it when i get it back, and get a bosch 160 bar one. (which also has a 2 year warranty)





To add, the other machine on link above (hw130) i used the other day (customers) and its not as powerfull, and has a really cheap feeling to it.

I'm quite surprised by that as Makita are usually brilliant tools. Perhaps they are made by someone else and just badged with Makita?

I do like Bosch tools though

cheers, already seen it. You can get those for £270 with a free patio cleaner attachment on tooled-up, so will see what that one goes for.

I'm just wondering if the extra 10 bar and 70 litres of water is worth paying £80 extra for..............although its tooled-ups best selling bosch washer :|

that ebay washer just went for £212 including postage. You get a new one on tooled-up for £275 including postage with a free £40 patio cleaner attachment, and more importantly a full 2 year warranty.

The Bosch is unlikely to be much better than the Makita, since neither of them make their own pressure washer - neither do Stihl.

Best bet, look up 'Cleaning Machines' in Yellow pages & find your local high pressure cleaner specialist. Most will have domestic machines, possibly brands you jave never heard of.

These guys usually only sell what they think is good & reliable - and they know their stuff.

Comet are well worth a look, as are Machine Mart.

anyway, finally got a brand new washer out of makita. Now its model number has changed to HW131RLW

If you google the full model number theres not much on it. I would say its a new manufacturer and changes have been made. Had to wait for 6 weeks to get it, as they were out of stock at makita!

Now, do i ebay this new boxed one, or give it a go? The service agent said they will 'probably' fix this one for another year, seeing as i got it new as a replacement for a rubbish one.

if a little late, at least makita replaced the unit with a new one. Not too bad i suppose

I would run it for say 6 months and see what happens. If no good than do what you wanted to do before. Depends on if you want do this or not. Had your fill of it.

the new one has just failed...........the metal casting that holds the pressure hose on has cracked at the base of threads

This casting looks like cheapy white metal type stuff, and is poorly designed. The hose will strain it when in use, the part isnt protected so can get hit, the wall thickness isnt enough

Awaiting a price for the part now.


Fix it, sell it, buy something else
