new kitchen?

Hi,
I've just bought a house and the kitchen needs a bit of work. I could add a unit and make do, although ideally it needs completely redoing, but I'm not sure if I can afford that. It's a small kitchen - about 2x4 m2 with units along one side, sink at the end and a breakfast bar on the other side (it's open plan onto the living area). Ideally it needs: a couple of electric sockets moving, new units etc, tiling, and probably some redesigning to use the space better. A built in oven would be nice (and would presumably add value to the house!) but isn't necessary. I'm wondering what sort of price it would cost, how things could be done cheaply and how much I could do myself (I don't have much diy experience, though my dad could probably help!). Because of the limited space I may want to use non-standard sizes. Any advice?! Thanks
Laura
