I have a couple of jobs to do in my new extension. the first is the bathroom no big deal 16 m of plain white 300 x 450 and a chrome dado mosaic. The other is the kitchen and sun room floor all one room approx 25m with a porcelain travertine lookalike 400 x 600.

I would welcome any recommendation as to what tile cutter to get. My old one was an old Screwfix powered wetcutter has seen better days the spindle wobbles. I have seen a vitrex power pro900 but at £220 is a bit pricy for a DIYer and is very heavy but seems to have good feedback.

For porcelain or ceramic you can't beat a standard tile cutter, as they are so much quicker for long straight cuts- as long as the tiles are smooth and not textured.

It really depends how much you want to spend.

Personally I just bought a plasplugs tile cutter from B&Q for about £20 and a silverline wet diamond wheel machine for about £30 and they do what I need.

Porcelain can be difficult to cut and you will struggle with a cheap Rubi. I would recommend a Big Clinker dry rail cutter from Topps about £100. It will cut most porcelain. For the few key cuts you will encounter, buy a cheap wet cutter with a diamond wheel - Topps, Wickes, B&Q, Screwfix etc, about £35.

Thanks for the tips everyone and I will get along to screwfix and get one before they sell out.

I am the same.....use a £90 wet cutter for the few cuts that i can't do on my expensive Rubi. Although I can do curved cuts, and slots with the Rubi, it takes time.
