Skil are perhaps the best on the market, or always were. :thumbright:

If I remember rightly Skil invented the hand held circular saw.

They are well respected and are owned by Bosch.

Trade.

I've had two skilsaws and both have not worn out.

The last one I hit an RSJ below the floor and ripped the guts out.

i think we should mark tools from 1 to 10 with marks for quality durability cost spares and servicing good design ect

i would give ryobi 8/10
dewalt bosch hitachi makita ect 10/10
fein festool 9/10

own makes 3/10
lidles aldies ect 4/10
black and decker 6/10
bosch green 7/10

this is from a diy medium trade level if it was heavy continuous trade anything tools below 8/10 would not be conciderd

The skil make is new to B&Q they have just taken in AEG as well. The sneak you have to look out for is that the item is not made by skil exclusive to B&Q. This is for example why mountfield get a bad name as the lower price range of mowers are made exclusive to B&Q. Basic test is to look at the packaging, if there is any mention of B&Q you should maybe consider what you are buying, Im not saying the stuff is bad it just will not have the 100% quality. They arrange a massive purchase of things like this at a cut price and terms like, If the product is faulty and returned B&Q take the loss not the manufacture. If that’s the deal set in place (which not always is) then the quality will be slim. A one year warranty on a brand name is another giveaway that one of these term deals have been struck. I hope that all makes sense.
