fitting tile trim

Hi. I know how to mitre tile trim for internal corners but I can't begin to imagine how to cut the trim for a horizontal to vertical run and then a vertical to horizontal run. The tiles are going on in an L shape (and not all the way to the ceiling) if you get my meaning. I don't want to leave a potentially messy gap where the pieces of trim meet, I have a feeling that if a gap occurs, it'll have to be filled with grout and will look naff.

Are there any clear photos or illustrations on-line that show how the cuts are made on trim to achieve a neat finish?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using plastic trim from Wickes.

These look good, unfortunately wickes don't sell them so I'm going to have to haul-ass around the local tile shops to see if I can get some to match the profile of the trim I have. Flippin' 'eck!

Yeah a tile shop will most likely have em, they are dirt cheap (that plastic ones).

Not 30 seconds ago I got off the phone to a nice chap from my local Tile Giant. He reckons that I should just show a bit of confidence and mitre the edges as he thinks they look lovely when done properly.

Oh well.... here goes!

on the corners where the horizontal meets the vertical you just lay the trim on its back and mitre them as normal, to avoid gaps the back of the trim IE the bit behind the tile should be trimmed back after youve cut your mitre so the backs dont clash at all!

Jane, are you trying to fit trim inside a window reveal? If so, you will need to stand your trim vertically in your mitre box to cut it.

Rookery, thanks for the question but no I'm not. If a window had been involved I think I'd've just gone quietly nuts!

To everyone else who answered, many thanks also. It took me over an hour to buck up the confidence to make the cuts. I eventually chopped off two one inch bits and spent ages holding them against each other to visualise how the profile would affect the joints which ran from horizontal to vertical and then from vertical to horizontal. The first left a gap of about 2mm which I'm fairly happy with since it's 7ft up the wall. The second turned out lovely, I spent an age sanding out a 'scoop' so that the joint allowed for the rounded profile and the fit is so snug I doubt I'll get grout in it.

Again, thanks to you all, you helped me work out the process logically and I'm chuffed with the result.
