Suspected head gasket, turns out to be a cracked head :cb

Should get it back tomorrow, around £1600.00 lighter in the pocket :cb

Not a uncommon fault also they can have piston head contact problems when the big ends wear.

I did drive it for about 30 miles with little or no water in it at 1 o'clock one morning.

It was either that or a long walk.

Had an Escort, where the little end came through the block doing 85 up the A303, that was interesting.

£1600 is about £1599.99 more than i could cope with at the moment  , if anything goes wrong with the jalopy i'd have to scrounge a lift in for a few weeks till i could pick up a replacement
here's hoping that day is a while away yet but now i've said it

To be honest it's not worth spending that much money on, and it was still running well, drove the Droitwich and back at the weekend 200miles ish, and no problem other than leaving the lights on all night and having a flat battery. ::b

Should do me for a few more years now, and it's a nice car to drive.

Really good to hear it's running well now, do you have to take it back to have the head retorqued?

Lets hope that's the last you have to spend on it for a while

Mind you that wheel bearing sounded a bit dodgy the other day
