No dial tone telephone line, supplier is Orange
Hi all,
I have recently switched over to Orange, i have there broadband and telephone package.
I have experienced a problem in that the telephone line as no dial tone, so i can not recieve or make any call!! very annoying
When i dial my home number i can hear that the there is a connection but none off the phones in the house ring. I still have internet connection.
I had removed all cordless handsets and broadband from the socket and connected a corded handset to the master socket, yet i am unable to get a dial tone.
I spoke to Orange customer service and they were useless, they said that the line is clear and their may ba fault with the phones and an internal connection issue. However after plugging in a corded phone into the master socket and not getting a dial tone.
Orange, said that they can send out a engineer, but if the fault is at my end i would have to pay the crazy call out charge!! Not happy about that.
Any help would be great
thanks

Borrow a Known working phone, from a neighbour or friend...
If that doesn't work call the engineer out...

More likely to be at your exchange.
Most of orange customers are connected through Oranges own gear at your exchange. LLU I think it is called.

When you tested the phone at the master socket, did you remove the front cover and plug the phone into the test socket?
If you did plug it in the test socket and you are certain that the phone is working, then there is nothing to worry about as the fault is clearly with their equipment.

Was that orange customer services in GB or India?
If India, keep calling back until you get a british call center.
All the indians work for a sub contract company and not orange, all they do is read from a 'crib sheet' on the computer and haven't a clue about what actually is wrong.
My youngest works for them so I hear all the horror stories
