ford transits

Post by handyman »

i always get the impression that transits are the dogs b*llocks, and most owners think they are great.

I have one as the base model on my motorhome, and the only bits to go wrong with it are on the ford side of things,

Egr unit has been replaced
Diesel leak
Sump leak
Electric windows not working properly
Fuse blown (cant remember why)
Black smoke from exhaust, fixed twice.

All above fixed under warranty during the first 3 years,

Now its 3.5 years old and the Egr unit has went again, so thats £335 thanks very much :cussing: (although this is the first cash paid to fix it)
The unit was replaced 1.5 years ago, and appears to be a common fault, as is all the faults listed here.

32000 miles, it just aint good enough. hopefully thats it for this year

That is not good for a 3 year old van.

My van is 5 years old (Merc vito 80,000 miles plus), although I have only owned it for two years. The only thing I have had to buy so far is a new keyfob at about £160

If the horn failed to work and it was not under warranty, I am sure you would of fixed it without buying a new steering wheel
