hey guys
newbie here!
would anyone know roughly the price of a new double-glazed door? with fitting?
its a normal size door for my exterior kitchen door (leads into garden)
i have rang a few places the usual reply being ''we need to see to quote!''

I would allow a Thousand Pounds in London, supply and fit. then progressively cheaper as you get north.

They really do need to see the job.

Rear door at my last house was almost £800....and that was 2001...

You can pay more than that for just the door, which is why they need to see the job to be able to give you a price.

am genuinely shocked!
i was expecting mayb £300 tops considering how widespread it is now n prices falling
i suppose the next question is how much is a 'decent' quality wooden door? with fitting?

You really do need to get a couple of quotes in, and they can only do that by seeing the job.

But be prepared for a shock.

£300 plus a local builder+certification cost !!

I fitted one earlier this year, the door cost £400, plus £120 labour.

It'll cost more than that parking in London. Gadget.

Even a humble rear door can cost quite a bit

In most cases a upvc door will work out the cheapest as even though the cost of the door is higher than its timber equivalent as it comes pre-finished. Some labour costs maybe falling but the cost of materials isn't as we are an import country and the pound is hardly strong at the moment. When you do get quotes I would strongly advise you to see what they are quoting for, don't assume all UPVC doors are the same, many have cheap hinges and locks that can fail within a matter of years. So don't decide on price alone.

If you opted for a timber door, then there is a bit more than first meets the eye, you may look online and see a door for x amount then think it just needs fitting but once you add the extras it soon mounts up

First you need the door,
then you need a decent lock and hinges,
then door furniture,
then you need paint or varnish,
then it needs installing,
if it's going to painted it needs a primer, 1 or 2 undercoats then top coat, inside and out,
then you need to dispose of the old door - there will be a charge for this as commercial waste unless you take it to the tip yourself.

Sadly i'm not sure you could get all that for £300

I know, but we all know living in London is for morons only!.. ....I see the OP doesn't say where he is!!

I charge between £450 and £500 fitted for a choice of ten different upvc doors and £500 for a half glazed back. 20 mile radius of moi. Kev@*******
