Replacing Kitchen doors

Does anyone know much about Sheraton Kitchens? I have standard MFI units in the kitchen which need a good spruce up! Rather than change the entire kitchen as we will be looking to move within a couple of years, we wanted to change the doors. Have come across some doors made by Sheraton the same size as I require for units, but I don't know whether this would fit my units (holes, hindges etc) Does anyone know? Its a long shot I know.......

I've got a Sheraton kitchen....but as I don't have mfi units can't tell if compatible...

But ask away if you want specifics on door sizes/ hinge positions etc...

Wow that was quick, I can see me spending to much time on this site, providing the boss doesn't catch me!

As I can't get to the units at moment, could try and explain/describe how the hinges fit? Are they the type that have the round recess in the door?

Hi Dean,

Most doors and hinge cut-outs are a standard size, measure your old doors and confirm the sizes with the manufacturer of the doors you intend to buy!

Sheraton holes are 35mm diameter.

If different to the mfi units, order the hinges with the doors.

Ah I'm not having the doors made, someone is selling a load of doors that 'fell of the back of a lorry'. But I suppose there must be somewhere I could purchase the hindges

The problem you may encounter is indeed that the door hinge mortices might be in different positions. This is not a big deal as the arm end of the hinge is fairly easy to relocate and fix on the cabinet. You could use the existing hinges if they are screw or bolt on types but the Blum soft close 'clip on' hinge sets would be good as a replacement. Some cabinets have push in hinge mounts, that have one way push in studs that are a bast to get out and can damage the cabinet side, but I think MFI have bolt on hinges that remove okay.

It is a tricky job to hang the doors new on cabinets that are insitu and you will need a good pair of hands to assist in doing this job so that lets out the wife Take the time to make a jig up to allow for accurate repetitive drilling as needed for bolts or pilots.

i fitted some bnq doors on howdens units recently and there hinge holes didnt line up, e ended up drilling the holes on the otherside of the door and pluging the existing holes.

they are easy to mark out for the new holes as you can take measurments off the old door, set a square up to the hole centre then measure up/down from the top/bottom
