Help!!!!
I'm hoping that one of you will know what to do!!
Lots of friends and family members have been contacting me today, to tell me that they've received an email from me that contains a link to viagra!!! I haven't sent this email and don't know anything about it, I've looked in my sent items, it's not there?!
Do you think that it's a virus or something?! What can I do about it? My hotmail account is acting a bit odd too.... it takes ages to load and then doesn't look quite right! I've never had this problem before!! Please help!!!!

Re: Help!!!!
Someone has sent me the email that was sent from my email address. On the address line there is an email address that I don't recognise and isn't in my email address book. And this odd email address is junk@bilyara....... which is very suspicious!!

Re: Help!!!!
Somebody has hijacked your email account.
Just today I have had emails from my granddaughter's hotmail account and the buggers have apologised for 'borrowing' the account.
Today it was a Chinese tee shirt wholesaler, but previously it was the viagra merchants.
Just dump the account and open another, let everybody know you have changed and why.

Re: Help!!!!
Butterfly,
Firstly, which email account is it? Is it a webmail account like yahoo or gmail, or the hotmail that you mention. Or is it your Outlook or Outlook Express account?
1st thing to do is clear out all your temporary files, tool of choice is ATF Cleaner, it is free and you do not have to install it. Download and instructions here (Windows XP, 2K, 2003 & Vista ONLY)
* NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, click No at the prompt.
-- Click on ATF-Cleaner to run it
-- Where it says Select Files To Delete, Check the Select All Option
-- Click Empty Selected - > OK
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
* Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
* Click the Empty Selected button.
Then, please download MalwareBytes' AntiMalware
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to the following:
o Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
o Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* Then click Finish
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select > Perform Quick Scan, then click > Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click > OK, then > Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click > Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Save this log to My Documents in case it is needed for reference.
Reboot as required.
If the answers to my questions were web mail, then either change your passwords or set up new accounts.

Re: Help!!!!
Gas for you.... I've run the anti-virus scan and it couldn't find any "malware" but it did find 25 "spyware"!!! I have no idea what that means?!
Bruv.... I'm sorry to hear that they've hacked into your grandaugher's account too! If they do that do they read all of your other emails?!
Dave.... you're a star!! I have a hotmail account. Do I need to do what you've said? I have already cleared all of my temporary files and internet history, cookies, passwords etc.... is this enough or do I need to do more? I'll change my password now! Thank you for your help!

Re: Help!!!!
Butters,
Follow my instructions from downloading Malwarebytes AntiMalware.
It won't do any harm to run it and clean up your computer.
Then keep it and open it about every week and click to check for updates , then run a quick scan. Only takes about four minutes for some peace of mind.
I would also open a new Windows LiveMail account and send a notification to all your friends and family with your new address

Re: Help!!!!
Thanks Dave, I've downloaded the Malwarebytes AntiMalware and it's currently scanning the C Drive.
I've tried changing the password on my hotmail account, but it just keeping telling me that the server is too busy, or the account/ service is unavailable etc... so I think it's gone wrong!
I'm going to get a new one, but I'm worried all of the stuff on there. I'm in the process of tracing my family tree and I have loads of emails on there from newly found, distant family members.... Plus, I use my email address for all of my accounts, Ebay, my landlord etc... I'm worried that I won't be able to access things without it and I'm worried that the virus/ hacker or whatever it is will be access them too!
Thanks again Dave!

Re: Help!!!!
Cannot open your .doc download.
But just run a quick scan, not a full scan and click to remove all it finds.
