The mouse has turned to stone in the center of the screen, any clues.

The window dog is asleep in a box if it helps.

No programs running.

Check the batteries, or use the reconnect switch on the mouse or wireless dongle

He checked it was switched on and changed the batteries.

I expect I'll have to go round there and kick it tomorrow. ::b

Apparently he tried a plug in wired mouse as well.

Strange if a wired mouse didn't work either. Do you know if the keyboard was still working?

Certainly some keys are working, but not sure if the arrow keys are.

Was the wired mouse a USB or a PS2 mouse?
What make of wireless mouse is it?
Did he unplug the wireless receiver when trying the wired mouse?

A wired mouse should have worked, take one of yours to try when you go round.
If yours works, go to Control Panel -> Mouse and see if there is any indication of why it is a goosed mouse.

Some wireless mice need drivers, so you could try re-installing them.

I took the receiver and the mouse and pointed them at each other, and pushed the connect button and all was working ::b

The keyboard is sticky now, so he's gonna change the battery and do the same thing. :thumbright:

My wireless mouse is always doing that. I have to push the receiver button every now and then to get it to wake up.

Its creative make. Microsoft is a good make

I refuse to supply my customers with wireless keyboards or mice. For the few quid I make out of them it's a right pain in the backside when they keep ringing me asking why they've stopped working.

I tell them to get them themselves if they insist on having one.

I hate 'em.

The wireless stuff does seem a bit hit and miss. I had a KeySonic wireless keyboard with integrated touchpad for my HTPC and it was useless, but I've got a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse on my main PC and have found it to be excellent.
