What diameter are we looking at?

Specfically a reaming tool. You could use a reduced shank brill bit if your drill is up to it. Might be easier to take it to a local workshop and ask them to oblige.
Don't take it personally......

What size is the hole in the weight, what size is the bar?
Weight bar must be about 35mm or so isn't it?

Somewhere with a lathe and a selection of twist drills would do it in a matter of minuites.

An adjustable reamer might take it out enough if its not far off, if you can get hold of one.

I think trying at home will be hard work tbh.

They are standard size plates so they are 1 inch, they do not need much but i've got quite a few to do. If i wanted to take them to someone who would i look for (what profession) in the yellow pages.

Pipe is not really suitable for holding weights.

Normally solid bar is used and this will bend when lots of weights are put on the bar.

If you still want to get the holes enlarged in the weights you could look for an engineering firm, preferably one with a large centre lathe.

Where abouts in the country are you, someone might be able to recommend a firm?

May be wrong but I think he's making a stand for the weights.

In that case, I'd just get some smaller outside diameter pipe

I live in Sheffield and yes of course i realise pipe is not purpose made for what iam intending to use it for but its more for experimental purposes really. An 18 inch dumbell handle starts at around 10 quid each and you still need collars where as 2 lengths of 18inch black iron pipe (threaded) cost me a couple of quid and jubilee clips and end caps should be fine for what im going to use the dumbells for and besides i cant lift any serious weight yet

Sheffield should be full of firms that can bore out the holes, but I don't know how much they will charge.
