Hi, first time tiler here . i am tiling above worktops and was hoping to tile a splashback abover cooker up to cooker hood however i have a curved glazed cooker hood and would therefore require to cut my tiles curved to fit? Will i be better off just getting a sheet of s/steel cut to fit?

Yep, get a splash back made to measure!

I say this 'cos I've the same dilemma. Didn't like cutting a external curve without chipping the surface of the tiles nor grouting it. I really couldn't visualise it working.

I've got a 1000mm cooker hood and a fabricator wanted to charge £120 to make a splashback - no idea what grade s/s it was. I thought that was a good price but still never got round to completing it but I have done the template for it

Cheers for that. I was thinking about getting s/steel tiles then to match (kind of match anyway). Does anyone know the price of these compared with standard ceramic for example? Can i pick them up at the usual outlets?

The stainless is a good option, but you can cut some tiles in curved shapes with some tile cutters.

Rubi make some cutters that can cut curves, but it is expensive to buy one!

If the tiles are textured, (not smooth) they are more difficult to cut as well.

I have seen stainless tiles for sale in lots of places, I think B&q sell them.

Stainless can be a real pain to keep clean!

Unlikely to get then from bnq etc but Topps Tiles may have them or be able to get them. You may need to use the power of Google. There is somewhere that sells them (I looked about 12mnths ago) but I didn't like them

Most cheapo wet cutters would handle curves......just need to go slow

take the hood off, tile and then fit the hood.
i always tile first before i put the hood up.

Not always possible to take off the hood. the stainless vent/chimney usually goes hard up to the wall.
