telephon junction box {moving}

Post by godfather »

Hi I have just joined and am looking for some advice on moving a telephone socket from my back bedroom to the front bedroom. The wiring comes up from a box behind the front door and then seems to go beneath the floorboards to the box on the wall. It is this box that I need to move so that I can have my computer in the spare room. Any ideas please.

Leave the box in the back bedroom alone. If you can't run a new cable back to the box downstairs, run a cable from the back bedroom to a new box in the front bedroom. Join it (securely and properly) inside the box in the back bedroom.

Keep the cable run as short as possible but remember to run it where it can't get damaged (or trodden on).

Expensive option - fit a wireless modem.
Don't take it personally......
