Laminate flooring - repair job

Hi all
I have a query re my kitchen floor. The previous owner laid laminate flooring but botched it up by not allowing room for expansion along the edges.
The floor has started to buckle in various places. I'm thinking of chiselling the edges but would like to hear if anyone has had a similar problem and solved it in the same way that I intend to.
Thanks.

This is a common problem when people do not leave the correct expansion gap!
I have a friend who's kitchen laminate used to lift about an inch in the middle during warm weather. Cutting some of from the edges is the only solution!
It might be hard with a chisel, there are machines that could cut the boards such as the fein multimaster, but they are expensive for a one off job like this!

usualy removing the skirting is the easiest way to release pressure from the laminate
and when you reinstall it it covers the gap without the need for horrible quad

HSS Hire a door trimmer. Flip it round the other way, ie facing the floor, and set it to the thickness of your laminate! Set 10mm for the expansion gap and cut away! However its not a good idea to tell the blokey at the hire desk what youre gonna be doing with it!!!

I mananged to rescue a mates laminate by cutting round the edges with a biscuit cutter. (needed a new blade after mind)
And the few odd places it couldnt get to in corners, i used a tenon saw and wide chisel.

Hi guys
Thanks for your postings. I would imagine these cutters don't come cheap to hire but how much was it in your case?
