Cheap, half decent tile cutter

Hi guys,

I'm in need of a tile cutter for doing my girlfriends bathroom. Won't be doing anything too complex, just basic straight snaps of bog standard 7mm ceramic tiles.

Bought a VERY cheap cutter, pretty much identical to the B&Q value one for £10, but it's crap. Cuts cleanly enough, but way too imprecise. The cutting blade moves about 5mm side to side when scoring, no good at all for me.

I usually borrow my dad's Plasplugs cutter (just one of the basic DIY ones) which does me fine, but can't get hold of it this time.

Can someone recommend a reasonable quality cutter for a reasonable price and where I can buy one. The local big chain places don't seem to stock anything that's not cheap and crap, or very expensive for pros.

Cheers

Big clinker :thumbleft: pick one up for about £60. Double the price of a cheap and nasty cutter but 5 times as good for what you want. You could then sell it on for £40 :thumbleft: Or buy a second hand one on ebay

Thanks for the tips guys,

Sadly I couldn't find a Big Clinker for less than £80, bit out of my price range unfortunatly.

Ended up picking up a Magnusson 500mm cutter from B&Q for £28. I'm sure it's not the pros choice, but is doing the job just fine for me and got good reviews from DIY users. Feels really effortless to use compared to the cutters I've used before and is precise enough for me. No idea how good it is for more heavy duty work, but for a amateur like me it's great.

I had an utter cheap 5hite cutter from Wickes years ago. I had to buy it because I had forgotten mine and it was cheaper to do that than go home and get it. Did the job and I used it other times.
