Really want to kill a plumber

Had a quote some weeks ago to fit a full gas central heating system from a local company in Cornwall. My existing storage radiator system is no longer connected.
We accepted the quote and agreed a start date.
He postponed for a week - going on a course, we agreed a new date.
He postponed for 2 days - had a job to finish off, we agreed a new date.
He never turned up - we finally got through to him , he had a migrane, we agreed a new date.
He never turned up - we finally got through to him , he had to attend an emergency, we agreed a new time.
He never turned up - we finally got through to him , his assistant had unexpectedly gone off on holiday, we agreed a new date.
He never turned up - we finally got through to him , he was very sorry, we agreed a new date.
He never turned up - we finally got through to him , he said HE HAD GOT THE PRICE OF MATERIALS WRONG AND THEREFORE THE QUOTE WAS WRONG AND HE COULD NOT DO THE JOB FOR THAT PRICE. We talked the problem through and I found an onliine supplier with the same materials at a much reduced price. We agreed the quote would stay the same and agreed a new date.
He never turned up - but then rang me. He said "I don't think you and I are going to get on, so you need to get someone else".
Can someone tell me why I should not swing for this b*****d?

I'm amazed you lasted with him for so long - after the 2nd or 3rd excuse he would have been gone if it was me

One of the reasons for me starting this site was because of a few people like that.

They drive you bloomin mad.

When you get a good tradesman make sure you keep his number handy as trying to find a decent one can be a nightmare!

I have the opposite with my plumber.....always turns up on time, excellent work but it`s always...." I`ll drop the bill through the letterbox " and three weeks and two phone calls later I still don`t know how much I owe him !!! " sorry haven`t had chance to do your bill, I`ve been on holiday "..." I`ll pop it round one of the days when I get chance "

God knows how he can afford to go on holiday ?????

Take it with a pinch of salt.

Anyone can join a forum, slag someone off and not be seen again.

Horror stories abound, and I have been on the receiving end of some REALY shoddy service over the years... Like a previous poster said, one failed appt, OK if there's a good reason, twice and you're OUT!

Right now I've got a fantastic plumber who I've known for about six years... good as gold (and worth his weight!)... always on time, quality job (to my untrained eye!) and doesn't give me BS....

On the other hand, been trying to get someone to lay a 2mx1m bit of vinyl in an upstairs bathroom...no furniture to cut round, only 2 up-pipes from a towel rad to negotiate, room as squared-off as it can be, boarded, architraves undercut, skirting off.. there isn't even a pattern to "square off" .... everyone's "busy" and will get back to us..... JOB TOO SMALL? - looks like I'll be doing it myself this weekend.....
