No more of a pain in the arris to mesh backed mosaic.
3mm nothced trowel for the adhesive. I use a cement based mosaic adhesive/grout. Start tiling from the top and work down, if it is a large vertical area to be done.
Once the adhesive has got a good grip of the sheet, about 30 minutes minimum, soak paper with water and gently peel off. If tiles move when peeling off paper then leave them for longer. Gently wash surface of the tiles. leave for 24 hours or until next day and grout them up.
You should be safe with a 3mm trowel to leave the paper on for 24 hours before soaking and peeling it off, but if you have excess addy come through then it becomes a pain to clean up, thats why I like to do the paper after 30 mins or so.

i had a customer go mental about my tiling as she though it was the exposed side of those paper covered tiles that are on show
Fortunately it was only a sink splash back.
